Independence Park in Bristol, RI offers one of the most scenic views in Bristol. Located on the northern end of Bristol Harbor this small but beautiful park is a great place to just sit and enjoy the view, toss a frisbee, enjoy some ice cream from Daily Scoop or a great Rhode Island treat of chowder and clam cakes from Quito's. Independence Park is also the starting point of the 15 mile East Bay Bike Path, one of the most scenic bike paths in New England. A great family spot.

Where else can you be in a quaint historic seaside town, where the residents all seem to know each other, sharing friendly 'hello's, and pre- 4th of July, your able to perch your lawn chair in this beautiful grassy park overlooking the Bristol harbor, watching the boats and the sunset, while listening to world class bands? The view is spectacular, but the electrifying spirit and pride for the town and the holiday, is even more moving!

Walked all around this park, through Common, and nearby streets. Lots of shady roads and old architecture..old cemetery and churches to explore.

This is a great park one block from down town Bristol, RI. It is the start of the East Bay Bike Path and right on the waterfront. Great restaurants around the area and all sorts of things to do. It is a very nice place to bring a beach chair and relax and enjoy the view or read.

This past spring, 2017, we went to see the Air Force Band play there. Naturally the band was awesome as usual. It's was our first time there respectively. The area is beautiful but the parking is bad. With any event, you have to get there hours before to get a good parking space. There is one of down the road that is free though. It is small.

If you're ever in town for the 4th of July this is the place to hang out for free concerts, nice views of the bay (including the fireworks show) and several nice food trucks. Several nights of free concerts take place here around the 4th of July celebrations and the crowds are very large. Use the restroom if you can before coming here since there are only porta-potties available with large lines (4th of July). Otherwise on other days, I saw this place was pretty empty and quiet for a stroll on the grounds. Located in the center of town.

Check out Bristol Fourth of July Celebration of events online. Bring the family and enjoy an amazing night of music, food, dancing and sunset overlooking the bay.

This is a park for everyone, not too large, and room enough for children to play and adults to enjoy with their own chairs on the grass or on the benches on the boardwalk with a great view of the harbor and beyond. Residents and visitors alike will gather there whenever they choose, or enjoy a special event hosted by the friendly town of Bristol with plenty of free concerts.

The park overlooks Bristol Harbor. This town is a hidden jewel, get there before the word is out. So many fine restaurants within a few blocks, from seafood to Irish pub fare, it's got it all.

Based on the reviews I had higher expectations of the park. It's very small, but does have a pretty view across the bay. I'm sure it's a great concert venue on a summer evening,

Is there parking at Independece Park? I understand this is the beginning of the East Bay Bike Trail but am unfamiliar with the area. Thank you.

There is on-street angle parking, and a parking area at the south end of the park (I don't think Quito's controls it). There was actually enough parking nearby on the holiday weekend, so I would think it would be fairly plentiful at other times.

Would this be a good place to watch the fireworks while we are staying in Providence over the holiday?

Yes, Bristol has a fireworks display and the perfect spot to watch them has always been Independence Park. You just need to get there early to get a good spot and parking is hard during that time. I thought Providence also had one, but have no idea. Enjoy.
